Georgia: The Georgian government discussed and approved the project “Measures to be Implemented for Organizing the 2026 Census,” which aims to support vinegrowers and ensure the smooth organization of the upcoming grape harvest.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on March 12, 2026, Thursday. The Georgian Health Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
“About the measures to be implemented for the organized harvest of 2026.” The goal of the Georgian government’s disposal project is to promote the realization of the grape harvest received by vinegrowers during the 2026 harvesting process and to organize the harvesting.
During the 2026 harvesting, in case of excessive harvest, if the private sector does not express interest in buying grapes, the state will determine differentiated prices for the purchase of 1 kg of grapes according to quality: “About grapes and wine” Grapes from grape varieties allowed by the law of Georgia: sugariness exceeds 20% – 1,30 GEL; sugariness from 17% to-20% – 80 Tetri, sugariness It does not exceed 17-% – 30 Tetri; as for the saffron: sugar level exceeds 22% – 1,50 GEL, sugar level from 17% to 22% – 90 Tetri, sugar level does not exceed 17% – 30 TETRI.
In the Rachi region, to stimulate private sector involvement in the harvesting process and to organize the harvest, the project also considers subsidizing grapes: All companies that will pay at least 8 Gel to the vineyard in exchange for 1 kg of Alexandrol and/or Mujuretuli grapes smoked in the microzone of “Khvanchkara” will receive a subsidy. The amount of state subsidy, which the wine companies in the Racha-Lechkhumi region will receive, amounts to 4 GEL, both for 1 kg of Alexandrol and 1 kg of Mujuretuli grapes.
In order to organize the grape harvest, there will be a harvest coordinating headquarters, which will work 24 hours a day.
