Georgia arrests two for producing dangerous counterfeit alcohol

Georgia: The Investigation Service of Georgia arrested two persons for the manufacture of counterfeit goods that are threatening life and health, as part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal trade and protect consumers.

The Ministry of Finance Investigation Service of Georgia shared the glimpses of the arrest made by them on its official Facebook Page on January 17, 2026, Saturday. The Georgian Investigation Service also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.

Employees of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the Lower Kartli Regional Prosecutor’s Office, as a result of the operation-search measures and investigations, have manufactured and used a large number of counterfeit excise stamps, as well as counterfeit goods that are threatening life and health. In fact, two citizens of Georgia were arrested.

Investigation found out that the accused were in Rustavi city, Meskhishvili city. In the office of “Defense Company Algan” Ltd., located in No. 6, various brand-name chains were manufactured and also printed fake excise stamps, with which they labeled alcoholic beverages. Manufactured counterfeit products were realized in the realization points and food facilities in the territory of Lower Kartli.

As a result of the burglary of cars and shopping facilities parked near the office, various brand names have been removed, including- “Stolichnaya”, “Nemiroff”, “Black Sea”, “Filandia”, “Talka”, “Koskenkorva Vodka”, “Parliament” and “Gray Goose” -A total of 204 bottles of counterfeit alcoholic beverages, 402 empty bottles prepared for disposal, alcohol disposal and manufacturing The necessary materials, 1,053 pieces Fake excise stamp, as well as computer equipment in which the files of fake excise stamp were placed electronically.

The case is being investigated under Article 2001 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia and Article 197 Part 3, which provides for imprisonment for 5 to 7 years. Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance is continuously carrying out investigations to remove counterfeit alcoholic beverages from commercial establishments.
