Georgia: The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Farviz Shahbazov is on a working visit to Tbilisi with a delegation within the framework of the Ministry of Green Energy Cable, hosted by Georgia.
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on November 14, 2025, Friday. The Georgian Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting, along with its glimpses.
The sides discussed the priority directions for energy cooperation between the two countries, including the important issues of the progress of the South Caucasus electricity system flagship project connecting the European grid.
The Ministers have reiterated the strategic importance of the project, which will promote the development of the renewable energy sector and increase transit and bilateral trade opportunities between the EU and the South Caucasus region.
The meeting emphasized that the two neighboring countries are actively continuing their partnership to achieve the common goals of energy security, regional integration, and sustainable development.
The talks also touched on the development of electricity infrastructure and hydro resources between the two countries, and to further strengthen cooperation in the oil and gas sectors.
It was noted that Georgia’s energy capabilities allow cooperation to be expanded in the fields of both hydro projects and solar, wind, and other non-traditional renewable energies.
According to the Georgian side, the Government of Georgia is implementing important programs, including creating an attractive environment for investors in the energy sector.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development with Farviz Shahbazov, Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Ministers Inga Pkhaladze and Genadi Arveladze, as well as Alexander Sokhadze, Head of Energy Policy and Investment Projects Department of the Ministry, Vano Zardiashvili, Director General of the State Electricity System of Georgia, and Tornike Kazar, Director General of “Esco” Ashvili were in attendance.
