Georgia, Brazil discuss expanding trade, investment, and tourism ties

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Brazil to Georgia, Carlos Ricardo Martin Celia.
During the meeting with the ambassador, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development emphasized the possibility of deepening the potential of economic cooperation between Georgia and Brazil. According to the meeting, in 2025, trade turnover between the two countries increased by 9%, exports by 73%, and local exports to 39%.
Participants of the meeting discussed opportunities to further increase bilateral trade and emphasized Georgia’s interest in export growth. Carlos Ricardo Martins Celia expressed interest in the possibility of signing a preferential trade agreement and continuing discussions in this direction, which is welcomed by the Georgian side.
As the minister noted, the two countries have taken very important steps in the last 15 years to establish the partnership.
Speaking at the meeting also touched on the partnership to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the tourism industry, noting that the number of visitors from Brazil increased by 38% in 2024 and by 25% in 2025. Participants of the meeting also discussed strengthening collaboration in innovation and technology, marine, aviation, and other key sectors.
One of the main issues that paid special attention to at the meeting was Georgia’s favorable investment environment. Georgia offers investors the best investment environment, as confirmed by the World Bank’s “B-Ready” report: Georgia is in the 2nd place in operational efficiency, in the 3rd place in regulatory framework, and in the 6th place in tax system.
It was also emphasized that Georgia provides access to markets worth 2.3 billion without customs duties, and actively implements various incentive mechanisms, including investments, additional tax breaks in free industrial zones, and special concession conditions for IT companies. As the Minister of Economy noted, the Georgian side invites Brazilian investors to discuss investment opportunities in priority sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, renewable energy, hotel business, real estate, etc.
Deputy Minister of Economy Genadi Arveladze and Head of Department of Trade Development and International Economic Relations of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development Givi Zedelashvili participated in the meeting between Carlos Ricardo Martins Selia and Mariam Kvrivishvili.
