Tbilisi: The budget of the National Wildlife Agency of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture has been increased by 60% for the year 2023. The increase in the budget has been supported by the project “Save Nature – Georgia”. The Swedish government has funded this project, and its budget is 1,114,000 euros.
The increased budget of the agency considers the restoration of Krtsanisi forest park and strengthening the direction of wildlife management. Notably, the aforestation campaigns were driven in Krtsanisi forest park in 2022 as well.
  In 2023, the Wildlife Agency will complete work on the Georgian draft law on “hunting and predatory species management”.
This law will result in enhanced monitoring and control over the species populations, restriction of poaching from the hunting area and Economic benefit planning by creating new jobs and other employment prospects for the rural communities.Â
With the help of the Swedish government, within the framework of the ongoing program “Save Nature – Georgia”, by the Wildlife Agency, along with the Agency of Protected Areas, in Algeti, in 2023, is planned for a noble Caucasian deer Organizing; up to 200 ha area which is planned to be painted and other necessary infrastructure to be built.
 It is noteworthy that the National Wildlife agency has begun the process of restoration of green cover in the forest park and the large-scale works will continue throughout 2023. This will involve planting different varieties of trees such as chrysanthemum and leafy trees; a Prohibited hunting, hunting, temporarily restricted fishing, export of toxic materials, arson and more.
