Georgia: An event dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the service in the State Security Service was held on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
The Head of the State Security Service of Georgia, Anri Okhanashvili, President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, and Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili were present at the event. They thanked the service personnel for their service and contribution to keeping the country safe.
During his speech, Head of the State Security Service Anri Okhanashvili stressed the historical significance of the establishment of the service and noted that the practical provision of state security is a fundamental foundation for democratic development.
The head of the State Security Service of Georgia focused attention on the unpredictable and constantly changing security environment around the country. According to him, peace and stability in such a situation are essential conditions for the development of the country, and the main mission of the job is to provide safe and dignified living conditions for Georgian citizens.
Anri Okhanashvili thanked the service personnel for the efforts they put in daily to ensure the security and stability of the country, often at the risk of life and health, and expressed his gratitude to their family members.
The head of the Georgian government stressed that one of the top priorities of the government is the further development and strengthening of effective anti-corruption mechanisms, in which the State Security Service plays a key role.
Participants of the event honored the memory of heroic fallen employees with a minute of silence. In the end, Anri Okhanashvili awarded the employees of the service with state medals of various degrees. Service medals and various kinds of awards were given to 328 employees.
The event was attended by President Mikheil Kavelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, Georgian Government and Parliament members.
