Georgia: Georgian Defense Forces celebrate 32 years since the establishment of the First Infantry Brigade of the Eastern Basement. The event was held in Gori, at the place of subdivision dislocation.
Minister of Defense Irakli Chikovani congratulated personal personnel on the anniversary of the First Brigade, along with the Commander of Defense Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili and the heads of Defense Forces.
During his speech, Irakli Chikovani spoke about the important role of the subdivision for the Defense Forces and the history of the brigade. “We will not make efforts to further strengthen the brigade’s capabilities, upgrade the infrastructure and raise the social security level of every military personnel,” the Defense Minister said.
On the occasion of the establishment of the Brigade, the personal personnel was awarded service weapons, medals – dedicated to the homeland“, “General Kvinitadze“, “Giorgi Ancukhelidze” and valuable gifts.
After celebrating the anniversary of the First Infantry Brigade, a New Year event was held for the children of dead, wounded and active military servicemen in the subdivision. Minister of Defense Irakli Chikovani congratulated children on the coming Christmas and New Year and St. Nicholas Day. The Minister of Defense wished them peace, health and prosperity.
Georgian singers, animators and fairy tale heroes took care of creating a New Year mood for children. A New Year village was organized at the military base, where Santa Claus gave Christmas gifts to the little ones.
Georgian Defense Forces
The Defence Forces of Georgia, or Georgian Defence Forces (GDF), are the combined military forces of Georgia tasked with defending the nation’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. They consist of the Land Force, Air Force, National Guard, and Special Operations Forces. The Defence Forces are under the overall leadership of the Minister of Defence of Georgia and are directly headed by the Chief of Defence Forces.
