Georgia: Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of Parliament of Georgia, gave a speech at the event dedicated to establishing the State Security Service (SSS) of Georgia.
Georgia celebrated the 9th anniversary of the establishment of the State Security Service (SSS) of Georgia on August 1, 2024, and reaffirmed its leading role in ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for our country and its citizens.
Since its establishment, the State Security Service (SSS) has been the cornerstone of our country’s national security and stability. It tirelessly protects our country from internal and external threats. Over the past nine years, the service has repeatedly affirmed its respect for the rule of law, integrity, and safety.
Speaker of Parliament said, “Amidst the challenges and turbulent environment in today’s world, the State Security Service has shown incredible resilience and resilience. Whether it is foreign or economic threats, combating terrorism organized crime, or dealing with hybrid threats such as disinformation, this service carries out its responsive mission successfully and professionally.”
As a result of the recent work carried out by the security service, the country has prevented the development of scenarios that would ultimately create chaos and destabilization in Georgia, Papuashvili stated during his speech.
According to the minister, the successful work of security personnel has enabled the government to concentrate on promoting the country’s economic growth and utilizing its strategic transport-transit potential in recent years.
Shalva Papuashvili said, “On behalf of the Parliament of Georgia, I confirm our readiness to continue fruitful cooperation with the State Security Service. Also, we are committed to promoting the continuous development and strengthening of the security service so that its employees can always adequately handle growing hybrid threats. We sincerely thank the management and staff of the State Security Service. It is by your efforts, courage, and dedication that peace and stability are maintained in our country amid the difficult international and regional geopolitical situation.”
“We observe in today’s world that Georgia is, in fact, in the circle of fire. Everywhere we look, there are internal conflicts and wars between countries; in these conditions, Georgia could be an island of peace. At the same time, part of our territories is occupied. This is a huge credit to our security system as a whole. Of course, the security service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, plays a major role here. The case shows that our security system is so rigged that no minor security risk has been implemented, especially in the last two-and-a-half years since the Russia-Ukraine war has raged on. I want to thank you for this, too, as the most powerful and important ring in this chain,” he added.
Papuashvili also mentioned, “The State Security Service(SSS) is one of the greatest creators of Georgia’s achievements, performing with great professionalism the duty of loyal guards of the homeland, who silently, with cold minds and warm hearts, day and night are improving the security of our citizens, the peace of our homeland and the stability of the country.”
At last, he said, “Once again, congratulations on the anniversary of the State Security Service. I wish you great success in important work for your country.”
