The Juvenile Affairs Department of the Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against 12 persons on the facts of torture, extortion, robbery, and organization and participation in violence carried out by a group.
The Prosecution Service of Georgia posted specifics about that crime on their authorized Facebook page on March 30, 2026, Monday. The details of the incident could also be found in a video shared by the Service.
Cause of charges
The investigation, according to the Georgian Prosecution Service, which issued the details of the crimes of individuals based on a query from Civil Georgia, was conducted by law enforcers at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and revealed that a group with “fascist-Nazi” ideology committed acts based on their ideology against individuals living an incompatible lifestyle and coming from nations excluding minors as well.
With the face of intolerance, members of this so-called society attacked in a troupe against pre-suing victims from abroad with different views and nationalities, humiliating them, physically and psychologically abusing them, and torturing them.
In many instances, the violence was recorded on video: the recordings circulated through different social networks and closed groups. At other times, the victims were twice robbed of their personal belongings and extorted money.
Criminal charges were laid against the suspects
- Article 225, Parts 1 and 2 (organization of group violence accompanied by violence and participation in it),
- Article 181, Part 2, Subparagraph “a” (extortion by a group),
- Article 178, Part 3, Subparagraph “a” (robbery by a group with prior agreement),
- Article 144, Part 2, Subparagraph “e” (torture committed by a group).
It should be noted that it provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment, based on the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Code.
The Prosecutor’s Office will apply to the court for a restraining order against the accused within the time limit established by law. The investigation at the Ministry of Internal Affairs is continuing with the aim of identifying other persons involved in the crime.
