Georgia: The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has indicted 13 persons for the attempt to seize and block a strategic and special object, as well as their participation in group violence. Notably, the accused are: Paata Burchuladze, Murtaz Zodelava, Irakli Nadiradze, Paata Manjgaladze, and Lasha Beridze.
It should be noted that society, once again, Paata Burchuladze, Murtaz Zodelava and Irakli Nadiradze, in order to mobilize citizens who are aggressive towards the government, gather them and engage them in violent actions, have rejected public calls for violently changing Georgian constitutional systems and to overthrow the state government.
In particular, the defendants urged society to undergo a revolution in which aggressive citizens should participate. In their statement, they jointly reported to the state government, for which they were making statements on the need for mass bonding and unification of certain groups of society.
On the day of the local government elections, October 4, all five accused and other persons decided to organize group violence, and on the same day, Paata Burchuladze introduced the action plan to the citizens who gathered at the protest on Freedom Square, according to which individual representatives of the government should be immediately arrested and executed. After the announcement of Paata Burchuladze’s criminal plan, Murtaz Zodelava called on the protesters to move together to the administrative building of the President of Georgia, which they would seize by force, and instructed them not to obey law enforcers. Following the mentioned call, the organizers of violent action and other parties involved in it moved from Liberty Square to the Presidential Administrative Building.
In the streets of Orbeliani Square, gang violence perpetrators, using heavy objects and setting fire, deliberately destroyed municipal and private properties in the vicinity, and used some of them to barricades on the sidewalk, to resist law enforcement and prevent the restoration of order.
The Tbilisi City Court fully shared the mediation of the Prosecutor’s Office, and the imprisonment of Paata Burchuladze, Murtaz Zodelava, Irakli Nadiradze, Paata Manjgaladze, and Lasha Beridze was sentenced to prison.
It is known to the public that 13 more people have been arrested in the framework of the investigation into the criminal case mentioned in the Ministry of Internal Affairs: Beka Machavariani, Alexander Gogoladze, Eva Shashiashvili, Giorgi Rurua, Vakhtang Fitshelauri, David Sturua, Manuchar Mikeladze, Alexander Khabeishvili, Kakhaber Mjavanadze, Tornike Mchedlishvili, Abo Naveriani, Sergo Megrelishvili, and David Zhgenti. The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has charged these persons with attempting to take over a strategic and special object, as well as participating in groaup violence.
