Georgia charges 135 individuals in major drug case

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has charged 135 individuals, including foreign citizens, with the illegal acquisition, storage, sale, and facilitation of the sale of large quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as the illegal acquisition and storage of firearms and ammunition.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged 135 individuals, including foreign citizens, with the illegal acquisition, storage, sale, and facilitation of the sale of large and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as the illegal acquisition and storage of firearms and ammunition.

The Georgian Prosecution Service shared the details of this heinous crime on its official Facebook Page on August 13, 2026, Thursday. The police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case.

Cause of charges

According to the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the defendants illegally acquired and stored various types and quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, including especially large quantities, which they valued and placed in various locations. Some of the defendants were engaged in the sale of narcotic drugs.

As a result of the actions, the law enforcers seized drugs and psychotropic substances such as “heroin”, “cocaine”, “methadone”, “buprenorphine”, “dried marijuana”, “cannabis plant “, “pregabalin”, “MDMA”, and the items needed for the evaluation of drugs. Firearms and combat equipment purchased illegally were also removed.

Criminal charges against the suspect

The detainees will be charged under Article 260, Part Three, Subparagraph “a” (illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of narcotics), Article 260, Part Four, Part Six, Subparagraph “a” (facilitation of the illegal sale of a particularly large amount of narcotics, especially marijuana), Article 260, Part Two, Subparagraph “d” and Part Three, Subparagraph “a” (repeated illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of narcotics), and Article 265, Part Three, Subparagraph “a” (illegal planting and growing of cannabis containing a particularly large amount of narcotics), which provides for a sentence of 20 years. It will provide imprisonment for up to one year or life imprisonment.
