Tbilisi: Thailand has introduced the Visa-free entry for Georgian citizens. Georgia is included in the revised list of 93 nations whose citizens can go to Thailand under the visa-free category.

The new guidelines come on July 15. Georgian citizens can visit Thailand without a visa under multiple categories. These categories include tourism, business, or short-term work purposes visas. Until now  only citizens from 57 countries were allowed under the visa-free category.

With this expansion of the list  the number of countries will reach nearly two hundred. The decision of the Thailand government was seen as a move to attract a maximum number of tourists to the country. The Kingdom’s decision to extend the visa-free regime to more countries comes at a time when the country is in dire need of expanding its income from tourism sectors.

According to the information  by June 25, travelers will reportedly need an electronic travel authorization to enjoy the full benefits of the visa waiver. Under the new visa-free entry rules, visitors can stay up to 69 days in Thailand. The Thai government also announced the enhancement of the number of visa-free destinations.

Earlier the the number was just 19  which had now increased to 31 places. All the changes will come into effect once these are published in the Royal Gazette.  Anyone interested in visiting the country must keep in mind that visa-free entry does not relax other norms. Visitors have to undergo many other formalities as usual.  These include the immigration control mechanism, such as a valid passport and its expiry date.

The government’s efforts have multiplied and brought results. Tourist footfall witnessed a sharp rise in the first quarter of this year.   Thailand is known for beautiful beaches, wonderful cities, traditional cuisine, affordable accommodation, and excellent nightlife.

The new visa rule allows an extended stay for international students who visit Thailand for higher study  such as a bachelor’s degree. Students need one year’s stay after completing their degree.
