Tbilisi: The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Georgia commemorated military medicine day today. The Minister of Defense of Georgia, Irakli Chikovani visited the military hospital for the wreath-laying ceremony.
It is to be mentioned explicitly that in connection with the Day of Military Medicine the Minister of Defence of Georgia Irakli Chikovani visited the army hospital. The Minister was accompanied by the Commander of the Defence Forces of Georgia Major General Giorgi Matiashvili.
The military hospital they visited is named after General Manager Giorgi Abramishvili. The minister and the commander of the defense forces laid a wreath at the memorial located on the hospital’s territory and paid tribute to the memory of the military doctors who died in combat operations.
On this occasion the minister Irakli Chikovani familiarized himself with the implemented and current projects in the military hospital. At the same time the director of the medical institution Shalva Maglagelidze apprised him with detailed information about the process of equipping the military hospital with high-tech medical equipment.
The Minister of Defense also inspected the completed and ongoing infrastructure projects which will provide the best medical services to the armed personnel as well. The minister promised to support the hospital’s management in solving the infrastructural challenges so that there would be no dearth of medical assistance from the government which would be meant for the defense forces as well.
It is worth noting that in parallel with the Gori Military Hospital the process of updating the material and technical base is also being carried out at the Kutaisi Medical Center. Moreover ongoing material-technical and infrastructure projects in military medical institutions will significantly improve the quality and capabilities of providing medical services to the Georgian Defence Forces.
It should also be added that all the visiting delegation members termed the scarified made by medical professionals unparalleled. They said that the unconditional contribution of the army’s medical staff is an unique example. This will encourage the other youth to join the armed forces and serve the nation.
