Georgia: Defence Ministry, UN prepare “Women at Service of Georgia” brochure to promote women participation

Tbilisi: The Defense Ministry of Georgia and the United Nations Women's Organization prepared the brochure named as "Women at Service of Georgia" to promote women's involvement in the defence sector of the country. As per the Ministry of defence of Georgia, the key aspect of the Women, Peace and Security agenda is to increase the involvement, support and career advancement of women in the defence force.

Tbilisi: The Defence Ministry of Georgia and the United Nations Women’s Organization prepared the brochure named as “Women at Service of Georgia” to promote women’s involvement in the defence sector of the country. As per the Ministry of defence of Georgia, the key aspect of the Women, Peace and Security agenda is to increase the involvement, support and career advancement of women in the defence force. 

The brochure presentation was held in the Army Hall of the Ministry of Defence. The brochure highlights the biographical stories of thirteen female servicemen of the Georgian Defence Forces, their courage, courage, fight and dedication and shows how important women contribute to the defence force of Georgia in the business of developing the lebs.

Deputy Minister of Defence Grigol Giorgadze, Representative of the United Nations Women’s Organization Kaori Ishikawa and Head of the NATO Office in Georgia Alexander Vinikov, spoke at the event. They talked about the role and advantages of female soldiers in the development of defence forces in ensuring peace and security. 

In the second part of the event, presenters shared views on the best practices and functions of women’s involvement in the defence sector. Female military servicemen represented in the brochure also participated in the event. They spoke with the guests about serving in the Defence Forces, tasks, challenges and the importance of military uniforms for women.

A photo exhibition of women working in Georgia was also organized within the framework of the event. A joint event of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia and the United Nations Women’s Organization was held within the framework of the project “For Effective Implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Georgia”, which is related to the United Kingdom conflict, Funded by Stability and Security Fund.
