Georgia: Defense Minister visits Didgori Battle Memorial, meets graduates of “AISI”

Georgia: Georgian Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze visited the Didgori Battle Memorial today, where he interacted with the graduates of the public organization “Aisi”. 

As per the sources, young people who had an interest in military affairs underwent basic military and hiking courses.

The courses which were studied by the young people for two months were navigation, basics of topography, site orientation, means of self-preservation, first aid, theoretical study of weapons, the terminology of weapons, and specifics of hiking equipment. While studying the courses, they discussed many issues related to the things they underwent.

Moreover, they were addressed by the Minister of Defense, and he thanked them for playing an active role. Juansher Burchuladze noted that the promotion of the army in society is important; therefore, the agency pledges support to young people interested in military affairs in the future.

Upon successful completion of the course, 110 citizens were awarded certificates and “Aisi” South. Thirty-five distinguished members of them were awarded the Camouflaged South. The Minister of Defense and Commander of the Georgian Defense Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, handed over valuable gifts to the young people. At the end of the meeting, the Ministry of Defense handed over new military uniforms and equipment to the youth organizations.

Furthermore, the event was attended by the Deputy Ministers of Defense, Deputy Commanders of the Defense Forces, representatives of the National Guard, members of the “General Giorgi Mazniashvili Youth Legion”, supporters of “Aisi” graduates, as well as British and American partners.

The Ministry of Defense provides logistical support to the non-governmental organization AISI, as well as the General Giorgi Mazniashvili Youth Legion within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding. The purpose of the cooperation is to raise public awareness about the activities of the Georgian Defense Forces and to deepen the patriotic spirit of the young generation.
