The Minister of Regional Development, Kakhaber Guledani, and State Commissioner David Verava, on the Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti side, attended the discussion of the strategic document for long-term development of the region.
The City Hall of Chkhorotsku Municipality shared the glimpses of the discussion session on its official Facebook page on April 7, 2026, Tuesday. The city hall also shared a small note about the event along with its glimpses.
At the meeting held in the administration of the State Trustee of Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti, the leaders of the region’s municipalities presented the draft long-term development strategies for 2026-2037 and discussed in detail the long-term development vision of each municipality, its main goals, tasks, and priority measures.
In the strategic documents of each municipality, special emphasis is placed on sustainable socio-economic development and maximizing the municipality’s potential. The work documents presented by municipalities set priorities to improve and develop the quality of the economy, infrastructure, health care, and social services. The strategic priorities also include actions to promote education, culture, sport, and tourism.
The long-term development documents place special emphasis on environmental protection, environmental improvement, waste management systems development, and refining transport infrastructure and municipal services.
The strategic document serves to promote comprehensive long-term development of the municipalities of the Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti region, which aims to strengthen economic sustainability, address existing needs and demands of citizens, and increase the welfare of the local population.
The elaboration of a long-term development strategy in municipalities is carried out by the instruction of Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze. The coordination of the process is implemented by the Ministry of Regional Development.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Delegates of Abash, Martvili, Tsalenjikhi, and Chkhorotsku Ilia Injia, Member of Parliament, Delegate of Zugdidi Edisher Toloraya, Deputy State Trustees, mayors of regional municipalities, and chairmen of city councils, the Ministry of Regional Development, and representatives of relevant local government services.
