Georgia: Edu. Minister attends 6th Summit of European Education

Giorgi Amilakhvari, The Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Georgia, attended the 6th Summit of European Education. The summit was held under the theme of "European Education Space - Reality for All".

Tbilisi: Giorgi Amilakhvari, The Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Georgia, attended the 6th Summit of European Education. The summit was held under the theme of “European Education Space – Reality for All”.

Iliana Ivanova’s European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth opened the summit.

On occasion, the Moldovan Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perchuni, and the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Yevhen Kudriavetsi, were also present.

They hold important discussions on the challenges in education in Eastern Partnersn countries and the significance of promoting education and science by the European Union.

Speaking on the occasion Education Minister of Georgia explained various reforms in the field of education in Georgia.

He also paid special attention to important issues such as – unprecedented growth of the education budget, renewal of the educational infrastructure of the Country, increase of teachers’ salaries, initiative for upgrading the qualification of teachers, a new vision for the development of skill and vocational based education.

The minister also discussed the steps taken By the Georgian Government in terms of supporting the internationalisation of the Education sector of the Country.

The issue of developing joint double-degree education programs in cooperation with foreign universities was specifically discussed.

Minister further added that In order to support young people, I have declared my full support to strengthen cooperation with the European Union and implement joint projects.

Minster also said that I confirmed to the participants of the summit that I am fully ready to make the necessary changes to implement all components of the Erasmus+ program.

It should be noted that the initiatives within the Erasmus+ program will provide a unique opportunity for Georgian students to participate in various educational and cultural activities with their European peers from other European countries.

Minster also said that the the ministry of education and science of Georgia is always ready to make necessary changes in education sector of Country in collaboration with other agencies.

After the successful internationalisation of education Georgia student will be able to get employed in many other countries.
