Georgia: Emergency management service gets more vehicle

The Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is all set to receive more vehicles. This vehicle will be brought with the help of the Embassy of Japan, The Emergency service will receive two more fire and rescue vehicles.

The Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is all set to receive more vehicles. This vehicle will be brought with the help of the Embassy of Japan, The Emergency service will receive two more fire and rescue vehicles.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the official ceremony for inducting the vehicles was held at the Japanese Embassy. Moreover the grant agreement was signed by the Head of the Emergency Management Service Temur Mgebrishvili, and the Ambassador of Emergency Plenipotentiary of Japan Ishidzuka Hideki.

At the same time during the official reception the head of the Emergency Management Service addressed the attendees and thanked the Ambassador for his help. These new fire trucks have been designed to fight both forest and urban fires as well. The transferred vehicles will be distributed in the fire-rescue departments of Sachkheri and Dedoplistskaro regions of the country.

It is also noteworthy that the meeting was attended by the State Commissioner of Kakheti, Giorgi Aladashvili as well as the Deputy Mayor of Dedoplistskaro Malkhaz Merabishvili, and the Mayor of Sachkheri Levan Ivanashvili. As per the information the project will be implemented under the Japanese government’s grassroots and human safety grant assistance (GGP) program.

Notably within the framework of the project this is already the 8th fire-rescue vehicle delivered with the help of Japanese partners. Cooperation between the parties has been ongoing since 2018 and will continue actively in the future as well.

The signing-in ceremony was attended by the representatives of both sides. The representative of Japan on this occasion expressed that Japan is ready to provide all possible assistance to the Georgian emergency services.

The officials of the Emergency management services also said the added new vehicles will be used for emergencies for the better monitoring of critical situations as well.
