In case of hunting during the forbidden period, relevant penalties will be applied to violators of the law. According to the law, in some cases, confiscation of acquired objects and hunting weapons will be made; the person may also be deprived of the right to carry a hunting firearm. In case of illegal acquisition of the species, a penalty is also added to the amount of damage to the environment. If significant damage to the environment was caused by the acquired hunting, the issue of criminal liability against the person will be considered.
It is noteworthy that during the hunting season, from August 23, 2025, until today, department employees detected 893 violations. 9 of them contain evidence of criminal offenses, and the materials were sent to the appropriate authorities for further response.
The Department of Environmental Supervision urges citizens, in case of violation of the law, to call the hotline – 153 (without index, call is free, anonymity is protected) so that the relevant regional authorities of the department can react immediately.
Within the framework of the fight against poaching, the Department actively and successfully uses tools such as high-performance cars, so-called gardens, boats of various types, trains, drones, photo traps, and thermal binoculars. As a result of strengthening the capacity of the department and the active implementation of modern technologies in practice, poaching and detection have been made possible 24 hours a day and in more locations.
