Georgia: The employees of the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture detected 7 illegal saws in the country. Illegal sawing machines are sealed in Kakheti, Shida Kartli, Imereti, and Samtskhe-Javakheti.
The Environmental Supervision Department of Georgia shared the snippets of the illegal saws that were found in the country. The Department also shared some details that were related to the unregistered sawmills.
The employees of the environmental supervision department of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia found seven illegal sawmills. The development came as part of the fight against illegal forest use, which led to the establishment of seven illegal sawmills in various regions of the country.Â
The citizens had ribbon and circular saw equipment in the yard of Kabali of Lagodekhi municipality, Sabero village of Akhmeti municipality, Sanebeli village of Kareli municipality, Jonia village of Tkibuli municipality, Patara Gubi village of Khoni municipality, Borjomi municipality villages – Mzetamze and Chobiskhevi.
In Akhmeta, Borjomi, and Kareli, illegal sawdust was sealed in Akhmeta and Borjomi, Kareli, various types of illegally obtained wood-woods – in total 46 units of round wood (seal) and primary recycling product (fitsari) of more than 3 cubic meters.
Since both facts contain signs of a criminal offense, the materials were sent to the relevant agencies for further response.
It is to be added that the Department of Environmental Supervision crews carry out continuous 24-hour patrolling throughout the country to prevent, detect, and suppress the facts of illegal forest use, hunting, fishing, and other environmental violations promptly. In addition immediate response is given to each message received on the hotline (153) of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.
