Georgia: The Minister of Health participates in the Venus-Lymphatic Global Summit in Rome. The goal of the annual event is to introduce existing achievements and innovations.

The summit is attended by government officials from about 80 countries, members of phlegologist associations, physicians, health policy makers, and experts.

Within the framework of the summit, Mikheil Sarjveladze spoke at the session, where he talked about the importance of evidence-based medicine.

The Minister of Health, over the past decade, has focused on reforms implemented in Georgia, aimed at strengthening the health care system, access to medical services and medicines, and reducing out-of-pocket payments.

Mikheil Sarjveladze focused attention on the Universal Healthcare Program, the DRG model of financing medical institutions, and the strengthening of the primary healthcare circle. Talked about drug reference prices, the direct procurement mechanism for oncology and chronic diseases. He also highlighted the significant investments made to strengthen cardiology services.

According to him, they are making significant progress in the implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols. In recent years, guidelines in oncology and mental health have been approved for the treatment of rare and chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. National Protocols for Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease are being brought into line with international standards and supported through digital tools and continuous training.

These efforts demonstrate our commitment to not only evidence-based medicine but also equity, innovation, and patient-centered care. However, we understand that guidelines are only successful when they are based on trust, capability, and collaboration. This summit represents the most important space to achieve this goal”, – said Mikheil Sarjveladze.

At the event, as well, spoke: Italian Minister of Health Oracio Skilachi, Italian Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio, Senator Inacio Dzulo, G. Medical Director of the Chapidze Emergency Cardiology Center, Vice President of the World Phlebologists Union Zaza Lazarashvili. Also, professors from different countries.

The other participants of the summit are: Deputy Minister of Health Tea Giorgadze, Ambassador of Emergency and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Italy Tamar Liluashvili, Georgian angiologists, vascular surgeons, and others.
