Georgia hosts Caucasus Eco-Corridors Fund Regional Consultative Forum (ECF) in Tbilisi. The forum gathered government officials, international organizations, and environmental institutions from Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan to review Phase II of the ECF program and discuss transboundary landscape conservation.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia shared glimpses of the event on its official Facebook Page on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Tuesday. The Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with the glimpses.
Head of the Policy Department of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, Carlo Amirgulashvili, attended the annual meeting of the Regional Consultative Forum held within the framework of Phase II of the Caucasus Eco-Corridors Fund (ECF).
The forum is being held in Tbilisi and is attended by representatives of state agencies, international organizations, and environmentalists from Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
“In recent months, the system of protected areas in has increased by 14.6% and exceeded 1 million hectares in the country. Within the framework of the project, the Lesser Caucasus Connecting Landscapes were successfully created in the municipalities of Adigeni, Khulo and Shuakhevi. 23 local public organizations were involved in the process, the main goal of which is to protect individual components of Georgia biodiversity both within and outside the protected areas. The Eco-Corridors Program is fully consistent with Georgia’s national and international environmental obligations and will make a significant contribution to the protection of biodiversity and the implementation of measures to adapt to climate change,” noted Carlo Amirgulashvili.
The participants of the meeting summarized the results of the second phase of the Eco-Regional Corridors Program and discussed the results achieved for biodiversity and local communities as a result of the program’s implementation in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The main directions and plans of the Caucasus Eco-Corridors Fund were also discussed.
