Georgia: The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, together with the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, participated in the discussion of the concept of education reform with the members of the Georgian Business Association.
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia shared the glimpses of the discussion session held on October 31, 2025, on its official Facebook Page. The Ministry also shared some information related to the meeting along with its highlights.
During her speech, Mariam Kvrivishvili emphasized the importance of reform and the Ministry’s involvement in its implementation. The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development noted that the Ministry of Economy should provide a macro-assessment of sectors in view of the demands of the labor market.
“Close cooperation between the business and education sector is necessary to ensure the right balance of labor market demand-supply”, – said Mariam Kvrivishvili.
“It is important to implement the right policy in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, so that each university or educational program accurately reflects the demand, which corresponds to the business’s needs,” noted Mariam Kvrivishvili.
Furthermore, according to the Minister of Economy, vocational education is one of the priority areas that should be given a lot of attention, especially in sectors such as information, hospitality, transport, logistics, etc.
“The Prime Minister has emphasized several times today the importance of generating a new workforce, and vocational education really speeds up this process,” said the Minister of Economy.
Together with the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth Givi Mikanadze, Chairman of the Parliament’s Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee Mariam Lashkhi, Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee Shota Berekashvili, and Head of Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani participated.
