Georgia: Ilia Gudushauri, Deputy Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection, met with “Emory University” professors Henry Blumberg, Sebastian Ganier and Russell Kempker.
The parties talked about the ongoing processes and existing challenges in the holding medical sector. Prospects for future cooperation were discussed.
As Ilia Gudushauri mentioned at the meeting, it is planned to further develop and strengthen the medical holding and the tuberculosis centre to activate it in the direction of scientific research.
According to him, the employees of the centre, who have passed Georgia-Emory tuberculosis (TB) research training program, will make a significant contribution to these processes.
Within the framework of the program, about forty young scientists-collaborators from the National Center for Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases, the Center for Disease Control, the Center for AIDS and Infectious Pathologies and other higher education institutions became Emory University, scholarship holders.
The meeting was attended by the head of the Medical Holding of Georgia, Lado Shelia, and the director of the National Center for Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases, which is part of the management of the holding, Zaza Avaliani.
