Georgia: The Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia has indicted two persons for promising a bribe in exchange for illegal acts, calling for the state government to interfere with the investigation.
An investigation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia, it was determined that in August and September 2025, Levan Khabeishvili, chairman of the political party “United National Movement” political council, systematically disseminated calls and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in public space – on TV broadcasts and social networks, and the Department of Special Tasks of the Ministry of Interior He promised 200 000 US dollars to the employees of Rtament Transfer of bribe if they refused to train and exercise, perform their duty and, if necessary, fail to use the special means enforced by law.
At the same time, Levan Khabeishvili, named as well as publicly promised to pay a particularly large amount of bribe to police officers who provided information and confidential materials related to his work.
For this action, he was arrested based on a court order on September 11, 2025, and was charged under Article 339 of the Georgian Criminal Code, which means promising a bribe (transfer money) to the bribe giver while exercising his official rights and duties, or staying away from something from the action to action.
In addition to the above-mentioned charges, on the basis of additional evidence obtained on the same case, Levan Khabeishvili was also charged under Article 317 of the Georgian Criminal Code, which means calling for the country to overthrow the state government. From June 2025, the defendant has been systematically calling citizens through television broadcasts and social networks to do such acts as shutting down the state government, for which he would set specific dates and places.
Regarding Murtaz Zodelava, who was arrested for resisting the representative of the government on the same case, it has been established from the evidence obtained, that Murtaz Zidelava illegally interfered with the work of the State Security Service investigator and tried to interfere with a comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of the case, to hide Levan Khabeishvili’s mobile phone, which was to be withdrawn The verdict was given by the righteous.
Therefore, he, instead of article 353 of the Georgian Criminal Code, finally, article 364 of the Criminal Code, which in this case means interfering in the investigator’s activity in this or that form in order to interfere with the aim of interfering with the investigator in one or another. The crime involves imprisonment of up to one year.
Prosecutor’s Office demands that the court imprison Levan Khabeishvili as a precautionary measure, and release Murtaz Zodelava on bail.
