Tbilisi: The Minister of regional development and infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze, following Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s presentation of the 2022 report, stated that in the year 2022, approximately 5500 projects were implemented, in which 1,200 companies participated, and 25,000 people were provided with employment opportunities in the developmental projects that continued across Georgia.

While hailing these projects, Karseldze stated that these numbers are evidence of what has been happening with infrastructure projects this year. The construction work was underway along 118 km of the East-West Highway, from which 40 km have been covered, and 15 km are now open for traffic to be operated across the route.

As Infrastructure Minister Karseladze noted, “In 2023, road traffic will be phased out on certain sections of the East-West Highway, including the Ricotti Highway and the Samtredia-Grigoleti sections.”

Karseladze further noted that significant progress has been made on the historic Kvesheti-Kobi project, and the 9km tunnel is now underway at a 4.5km depth. 2000 km of roads were rehabilitated throughout the country.

In 2022, the projects took place in more than 200 locations across Georgia. So far, works have been completed in 38 locations, resulting in a better water supply to 140,000 people.

“The record water budget will help meet the government’s declared priority, and all cities will have 24-hour water by the end of 2025.” – said the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze.

“The Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili, presented a very interesting report. We had a fruitful year in 2022, with the launch of highly important initiatives and new developmental programs in the country. In 2022, the budget of the Ministry was at a historic high, which has actually pushed the development of Georgia even further.
