Georgia joins SDSU conference on education and inclusion

Georgia: The Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Baia Kvitsiani, participated in the third annual conference of San Diego State University Research Foundation (SDSURF).

During his speech, Baia Kvitsiani spoke about the ongoing projects implemented by the Ministry with international partners to increase access to quality, inclusive, and child-friendly services.

Mariam Lashkhma, Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science and Youth Affairs of the Parliament of Georgia, the Chairman of the Committee for Education, Sciences and Youth Affairs, addressed the participants by Tamar Sanikidze, Executive Director of the Project “Innovation, Inclusion and Quality Project – Georgia I2Q, Ana Berdzenadze, World Bank Education Specialist and Douglas Fisher, Professor of San Diego State University.

During the conference, San Diego State University Research Foundation Professor Nancy Frye, Head of the International Panel of Experts, and Professor James Marshall shared findings and key insights from working closely with stakeholders to improve the quality of early and preschool education.

The sessions held at the annual conference also discussed important areas such as educator-teacher professional development and mentoring model, the continuous empowerment scheme for teaching staff, the national vision for quality assurance in early education, an updated curriculum, and a child development assessment system.

Panel discussions were held, during which representatives from municipalities, kindergartens, the National Center for Teachers’ Professional Development, and other stakeholders presented best practices and discussed challenges in the field.

The third annual conference of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia was held within the framework of the program “Innovation, Inclusion and Quality Project – Georgia I2Q”, which is supported by the World Bank.
