Tbilisi: Georgia, in accordance with its obligations under the Convention on International Maritime Navigation (FAL), recently launched the “National Maritime One Window” System (NMSW) in pilot mode. This has been launched from January 1, 2024 that is the first day of the new year.
It is to be specifically mentioned that “As a result of several months of intense preparatory work for its implementation the “National Maritime One Window System has been actively launched in pilot mode from January 1”.
Additionally, All stakeholders are already testing processes in the system, such as identification of entry/exit at the ship’s harbour and uploading of required documents (FAL-Forms) and other procedures and formalities that have been established by the International Maritime Organization. The process is going on as it was earlier planned,” – said Eka Baramidze, who is the head of the National single Window System Management Service.
It is worth mentioning that the ” National Maritime One Window system ” is a national-level technical platform that has been created with the aim to provide the electronic receiving, processing and sending of maritime, administrative and operational information, which also includes the management of the rights(s) granted within the discharge level.
At the same time, the platform provides linkage to systems of competent authorities and access to databases at national and international levels.
As per the information shared by the official for the digitisation of port processes without complications, the system will work in pilot mode until October 1, 2024. Moreover, after the completion of this pilot project, it will be completely activated with all functions operating without any further delay.
The national maritime single window system is an electronic information-sharing platform between the various government agencies. The data sharing makes the journey of ships smoother as they do have not to wait for a long time to get clearance from the concerned government agencies.
