Within the framework of the “Georgian Infusion” project, the first long-term training program for textile restoration and conservation was launched at the restoration workshop of international standards created on the basis of the National Museum.

The Ministry of Culture of Georgia shared the glimpses of the event held on its official Facebook Page on July 27, 2026, Monday. A small note about the event was also shared along with its glimpses.

French and Georgian restorers, together with eight novice specialists, began practical and theoretical work. The training program will last for one year.

The restoration of Georgian textile heritage, conservation and design-concept of a new permanent ethnographic exhibition for the Simon Janashia National Museum of Georgia are considered.

Project “Georgin Infusion” is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Creative Georgia, in cooperation with the National Museum of Georgia.

After the completion of the restoration works, it is planned to prepare a new permanent exposition and a large-scale international exhibition, which will focus on the influence of Georgian national costumes and decorative-applied arts on the world visual culture.

Within the framework of the first stage of the project, in 2025, Georgian and French experts have examined, assessed and evaluated more than 270 exhibits from the museums of Tbilisi, Gori and Stepantsminda.

It is noteworthy that the collections of National and Regional Museums of Georgia bring together up to 7000 textile samples from the XVIII-XX centuries, most of which have not undergone complex professional evaluation.

Project “Georgian Infusion” is a research and cultural initiative that aims to study, preserve and evaluate Georgian national costumes and decorative arts in the global context of art history, fashion and visual culture.
