Tbilisi: As per the updates from the Georgian Ministry of Health(MOH), one more direction has been added to the Labor Inspectorate Service’s mandate that will come into effect starting in 2023. The recently added mandate will study the issue of minimum wages for doctors and nurses, in particular.
According to this mandate, from January 1, 2023, the minimum hourly wages of doctors and nurses have been established, which are as follows:Â the minimum salary of doctors would be 7 GEL per hour, while for the Nurses, it has been determined at 4.4 GEL per hour.
As a result of the reform, all clinics included in the stationary component of the universal healthcare program will be required to pay doctors and nurses, depending on the minimum threshold that has been proposed by the Ministry of Health.
The Labor Inspectorate Service carries apt authority to conduct a full inspection of medical facilities to verify if the enforcement of labour rights and minimum wages of doctors and nurses is being followed or not.
The law clearly defines the functions as well as the duties of a doctor and a nurse; therefore, if the inspection finds that to avoid minimum wage, the doctor or nurse has been charged with a lower rank or other professional Facia functions by labour inspector service, this fact will be considered violation leading to fine of medical facility, the clinic also levied salary of doctor/nurse Pay back in full effect.
The Labor Inspectorate Service will take appropriate, strict action against employers, and all employees’ rights will be protected according to the law.
