The French newspaper Le Figaro published an article about the Georgian government with the headline: “Georgia is moving away from the EU to return to Moscow orbit”.
The article was written by French journalist Isabelle Lazer. The photo of Prime Minister Gharibashvili has also been attached.
The author writes that the current Georgian government has not condemned the Russian aggression in Ukraine and has not joined the sanctions against Putin’s government.
“Georgian authorities have refused to condemn Russian aggression against Ukraine and to join European sanctions, which Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili considers” useless, “the article reads.
According to the article, in parallel with the clashes in Donbas, Russia is fighting in other ways in the countries of the former Soviet Union, one of the examples of which is the detention of Mikheil Saakashvili.
According to the publication, Saakashvili, who is an old enemy of Vladimir Putin, was arrested by the Georgian authorities on October 1, 2021, on charges of abuse of power after eight years of persecution, and now the former president is dying in prison.
“While clashes in the Donbas are raging daily, the Russian war is being waged in other ways on the territory of the former Soviet Union. Vladimir Putin’s public enemy N1, Mikheil Saakashvili, who joined his country, Georgia, in a Western democratic family after the 2004 Rose Revolution thanks to market economy reforms, is slowly dying in prison at the age of 54.
“According to his relatives, the former charismatic and pro-European president may not be able to endure the ill-treatment of the victim for a long time,” the author of the article wrote.
