With the support of the World Health Organization, the National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health of Georgia held a working committee meeting. The meeting was held on “marketing of unhealthy food in children, food labelling, short intervention for the first time in health care and reduction of salt consumption in Georgia”.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the meeting highlighted the need to adopt a healthy lifestyle. At the same time, various techniques of marketing technology are also discussed. This was a two-day seminar.
On the very first day, the speakers of the meeting talked about the issue and bad effects of unhealthy food and eating habits.
On the second day of the seminar of the working meeting, a multisectoral approach to reduce salt consumption was held. The need to adopt a national strategy to reduce salt consumption is felt.
A representative of the World Health Organisation, while speaking on the occasion, expressed concern over the increasing use of unhealthy food. It is worth mentioning that due to unhealthy food eating habits, many deadly diseases have emerged.
The scientific community is still struggling to find treatment for many diseases. Notably, as per the Representative of the World Health Organization, switching to healthy eating habits can bring a dramatic change to the health of any community and society.
On the other hand, the representative of the National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health of Georgia apprised the attendees about the various approaches of Georgian health authorities.
Georgian representative said that the Georgian government is very much concerned about the health of the general public.
Many health awareness camps are frequently organised by the health authorities of Georgia so that a healthy society can be created.
Strict rules and regulations were planned to be implemented for unhealthy products.
