Tbilisi: The veterinarians of the National Food Agency carried out vaccination against measles in Ambrolauri municipality. As of today, 7 cases of dog measles have been reported in the city. In Ambrolauri and municipality villages – Kvatskuti, Sadmeli, Ghviara, Gori. The virus was confirmed in 4 owners, 2 supervisors and one targeted dog.
By specialists of the National Food Agency, all pets that have been infected with the disease were examined and veterinary-sanitary measures are being carried out.
On the recommendation of the agency, quarantine restrictions have been imposed in the territory of Ambrolauri municipality, which means prohibiting taking animals out on the street and other places. Quarantine restrictions will be extended for 60 days after the last case of measles.
In order to raise awareness of the population, the veterinarians of the agency carry out the dissemination of information materials.
The National Food Agency urges the population to be careful! In case of suspicious symptoms in animals, consult a veterinarian immediately; if necessary, contact the hotline of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture – 1501 or the regional government of the National Food Agency (Ambrolauri, Bratislava-Rachi Street #17).
It is noteworthy that an animal with measles is marked by behavioral changes: restlessness, increased nervousness; refusing food and water, gritting foreign bodies, biting animals and humans (even their owners). There are cases, when an animal becomes too allergic, the bark becomes corny.
Tsopi is a viral zoonosis infectious disease, during which the brain of the head and spinal cord are damaged. All warm-blooded animals (dogs, cats, small-legged cattle, horses, pigs, donkey, fox, turtles, wolves and others) get sick from measles.
The virus will be separated from the sick animal by nervousness. Humans and animals are infected by measles as a result of biting, itching and itching of an animal with measles. Disinfection can also occur by leaking into the mouth, nose, eye lid, and covering of damaged skin in an infected animal.
