Georgia: The National Forestry Agency of Georgia signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the representatives of “Ephesus Brewers International Group” (EBI) on May 16, 2025, Friday.
The National Forestry Agency of Georgia shared the snippets of the signing ceremony on its official Facebook page. The Agency also posted a small note along with the photographs.
Main Objective of MoC
The purpose of the memorandum is to promote corporate cooperation within the framework of the voluntary platform “Friend of the Forest” between the parties.
Notably, the memorandum was signed by the head of the National Forest Agency, Kakha Tsertsvadze, and the director of the SS “Lomisi”, Burch Kurtoglu.
Within the framework of the partnership, the National Forestry Agency provides forest restoration and maintenance, selection of areas underlying, preparation of forest restoration projects, and supervision of works.
Voluntary platform “Friend of the Forest”
Voluntary platform “Friend of the Forest” was created on the initiative of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, National Forest Agency, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and UNDP Biodiversity Financing Initiative (BIOFIN).
Voluntary platform “Friend of the Forest” considers the need for protection, restoration, and sustainable management of forests and the involvement of the private sector and volunteers in this process.
Goal of the Project
The main goal of the project is to unite society around environmental responsibility. It’s important because the platform brings together not only the volunteer groups but also the private sector, including large companies.
The head of the National Forest Agency, Kakha Tsertsvadze, also confirms this by adding,” I think that with their support we will carry out several important forest restoration projects.”
