The National Statistical Service of Georgia recently signed an agreement with the Agency for Competition and Consumer Protection of country. The main objective of the memorandum is to foster cooperation in conducting competition, anti-dumping, and consumer protection policies and the effective use of statistical data.
This agreement on mutual cooperation was signed by Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of the National Statistics Service and Chairman Irakli Lekvinadze, who signed it on behalf of the Agency for Competition and Consumer Protection.
The purpose of the memorandum is based on the principle of equality and mutual benefit within the framework of legislative powers, strengthening cooperation between both the agency.
National Statistical Service of Georgia Executive Director Gogita Todradze stated ” National Statistical Service of Georgia provides the competition agency with reliable, objective and detailed statistical information. Also within the scope of the competence it will provide relevant consultations to the employees of the agency regarding the use and processing of statistical data and other related matters. National Statistical Service of Georgia further takes a responsibility to discuss the challenges faced by the competition agency and to provide it with information in order to effectively exercise its powers”.
On the other hand Irakli Lekvinadze, Chairman of the Competition Agency, said, “We are planning a number of common events and activities within the framework of the memorandum. In our daily activities we actively use the reports and information prepared by the National Statistical Service of Georgia in our studies. National Statistical Service of Georgia databases and portals play an important role in planning economic and business projects in the country and in informing society correctly. The memorandum gives us even more opportunities to continue joint work with various stakeholders”.
It is to be specifically mentioned that joint meetings and events will be held within the framework of the memorandum in the future which will ensure that stakeholders are informed about issues of interest to them.
