The first personal exhibition dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding artist Aleksi Vepkhvadze was opened at the Palace of Arts – Museum of Cultural History.
The Ministry of Culture of Georgia shared glimpses of the exhibition on its official Facebook Page on September 5, 2026, Saturday. The Georgian Culture Ministry also shared a small note about the event along with its glimpses.
The event was attended by the Acting Minister of Culture of Georgia Mikheil Kiknadze, together with the Director of the Palace of Arts – Museum of Cultural History Giorgi Kalandia and the artist’s grandson Bruno Vepkhvadze.
“An exhibition dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the Georgian artist Aleksi Vepkhvadze has opened at the Palace of Arts. The exhibition has one special significance – it is the first personal exhibition of the artist’s works. The public is given the opportunity to see a significant part of Aleksi Vepkhvadze’s many years of creativity in one space. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the organizers of the exhibition for this opportunity. Such exhibitions are especially important for the younger generation to get acquainted with the works of those artists who have played a prominent role in creating the cultural heritage of our country. Aleksi Vepkhvadze is one of such creators. I am sure that this exhibition will be interesting for art lovers,” said Mikheil Kiknadze.
The exhibition presents about 30 paintings by the artist in various genres, which are distinguished by high professional skill, psychological depth of faces, and academic accuracy.
In addition to the historical genre, the artist left a significant mark in portrait art, as well as in book graphics, thereby contributing to the development of Georgian publishing. The Palace of Arts – Museum of Cultural History will host the exhibition of Aleksi Vepkhvadze until September 25.
