Tbilisi: The winners of the Environmental Information and Education Center’s “Green Award 2023″ competition were announced by the Georgian Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia. The teachers and educators from all over Georgia participated in the announced competition.

Natia Mumladze, a kindergarten teacher of Tbilisi N19, won the Green Award – Preschool Environmental Education 2023, and Asmat Lezhava, a biology and natural science teacher of Gori Municipality N12 Public School, won the “Green Award – Environmental and Agricultural Education at School 2023”.

“One of the main ways to deal with modern challenges is education. The role of teachers on this path is very important and I would like to thank you for that. Today’s event was planned as part of the International Day of Environment Protection, which the world celebrates on June 5.

In order to have a healthy environment, Community unity is important; In this regard, we have interesting initiatives, among them is the new platform “Friend of the Forest” which opened a few days ago, the purpose of which is to engage the community as much as possible in forest restoration, care and protection.

Society should be involved as much as possible in forest restoration, maintenance and protection measures. The state’s role in taking care of the environment is crucial. In recent years, we have carried out concrete reforms to protect air, water and soil from pollution.

Important events will be implemented in the future as well. All reforms are the result of joint efforts. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Environmental Information and Education Center on its 10th anniversary.

The center provides information to the public regarding environmental and agrarian issues and takes care of raising awareness. The “Green Award” competition, at the award ceremony of which we are present today, was established by the initiative of the center”, said Otar Shamugia.
