Georgia: Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia met with state-funded farmers in Kvemo Kartli. The Minister, together with the State Representative of Kvemo Kartli Giorgi Dokhturishvili, visited the newly built garden in the village of Shaumiani, Marneuli Municipality.
The company “Agronatural”, in 2018, within the program “Plant Future”, received co-financing of 57,000 GEL for the cultivation of 4 hectares of bliss and 1 hectare of apple orchards and the construction of wells. The company also enjoys preferential agro-credit. 11% of the loan is covered by the Rural Development Agency. The garden employs eight people.
“The projects we have been implementing for years for the development of agriculture are an important incentive for farmers to produce quality agricultural products and introduce new technologies. The farmers we met were motivated by state projects to make such a large-scale investment,” Otar Shamugia said.
The Minister also visited the village of Kumisi in Gardabani Municipality, where he inspected a state-created farm.
A livestock farm was launched in 2016 in the village of Kumisi, Gardabani Municipality, with state financial support. The company “Niba 2008” has invested 2 million GEL in arranging a cattle farm. The company has been enjoying preferential agro-credit since 2016; 11% of the loan is covered by the Rural Development Agency. The farm, which produces 2 tons of milk per day, employs six people. The cattle farm supplies raw materials to a local milk processing enterprise.
As the Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia, noted, regular meetings are held with farmers to get acquainted with their needs; The state projects are developed taking into account the mentioned needs.
