Georgia: It is planned to set up a fruit and vegetable processing plant in the Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti region. Today, the regional state commissioner and mayors were presented with the “Presentation of the results of the preliminary feasibility survey” conducted by the consulting organization BDO.
The City Hall of Chkhorotsku Municipality shared the glimpses of the planning meeting on its official Facebook Page on January 21, 2026, Wednesday. The City Hall also shared a small note about the plans made by the Chkhorotsku Municipality, along with the glimpses of the meeting.
The need for a recycling enterprise “Produce in Georgia” was named at the first meeting of the regional coordination group formed based on the Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti consultation centers.
“I would like to thank the leadership of Enterprise Georgia for their active work to create a regional fruit and vegetable processing enterprise.” A fruit and vegetable processing plant is a really important project, considering both economic and social factors. Too many people living in the countryside are unable to realize smoked products on time, and also the problem is the realization of low classification fruits and vegetables – these needs will be solved by the enterprise, and in the process it involves several farmers and citizens living in the countryside”, David Verava, the State Commissioner in Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti, said at the meeting.
At the meeting, Irakli Gabriadze, Deputy Director of the Agency “Produce in Georgia”, discussed the agency’s current programs and presented the report of the work of the consulting center of the region.
280 beneficiaries of interest-free loans within the framework of the state program of micro entrepreneurship support in the Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti region in the year 2024-2025. The amount of loans raised amounted to 12,5 million GEL.
With the participation of the mayors of the regional municipalities and the audience, various current issues were discussed, including the topic of determining the territory of the enterprise in the future.
