Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Georgia has criticized the move of the European Union and the United States of America to ban the fund allocation to Georgia. The Prime Minister has termed the move counterproductive for future bilateral reactions to the decision of the US and the EU to suspend the allocation of funds.
The Prime Minister also stated that reducing the allocation in the field of defense is unfortunate and will not meet the expectation of boosting the bilateral relations between these two dominant partners.
The Prime Minister was speaking during a meeting with government members and other higher officials. The Prime Minister underscored that this is totally counterproductive in terms of resetting relations. However the Prime Minister expressed hope that for the best results in the future, more pragmatic, rational, correct, and fair steps will be taken and this will ultimately contribute to resetting US-Georgia relations.
At today’s session of the Georgian government PM also responded to the attack on Mikheil Sarjveladze. He is the Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection. It is believed that behind the small liberal-fascist outburst was the leader of Nabiji, one of the non-governmental organizations of the National Movement named Chchobadze.
The organization also protested against the adoption of the foreign agent’s law because the foreign agent would have to disclose his black money. The Prime Minister urged everyone to curb their emotions and embrace transparency which is one of the critical European principles for gaining full membership in the European Union.
The prime minister also discussed the high economic growth observed during the first two quarters. This allowed the government to increase the budget by 519 million GEL for economic recovery. The prime minister further stressed that the stability of the national currency for the economy is very much required and the country has achieved the desired results in this direction with consistent efforts.
