Tbilisi, Georgia: Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, together with Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze, inspected the construction of the “Army City” on Makhata Mountain.
The head of Government got instructed in detail about the ongoing project for the Georgian military. The Prime Minister emphasized that the policy of his Government was to offer the “best” to the army and pledged projects supporting it would continue in the future.
Construction works of “Army City” will be completed by the end of 2022. The project includes the construction of 39 seven-storey buildings, which will be built on Makhata Mountain, in which 1092 apartments will be housed.
Military personnel will be able to buy housing on preferential terms. Their financial obligations will be eased with a 50 per cent co-pay and take advantage of interest-free internal payments instead of bank loans.
Instead of a private company, the construction will be carried out by the construction company of the Defense Agency, effecting a “significant decrease” in cost for the future owners of the flats.
The military will have the opportunity to benefit not from a bank loan but from an interest-free internal instalment. A square foot of living space would be around $200, and military servicemen would have to pay about $100 per square foot.
The unprecedented offer will be accepted by military servicemen in accordance with the established criteria.
The project will be an ongoing initiative. For this purpose, amendments will be made to the Defense Code, which will result in the composition of major and senior officers, master sergeant and senior sergeant category, which will be a completely unprecedented decision in the respect of the military, which will improve their living conditions significantly.
