Georgia: As part of his regional tour, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili inspected almond, walnut, and plum orchards established on 50 hectares under a state initiative in the southern Georgian city of Bolnisi on Friday.
During an inspection of orchards planted in the Kvemo Kartli region city under the Introduce the Future state initiative, the head of the government said that the state programme to support farmers contributes to the cultivation of perennial gardens of “European standards” in the country and the development of agriculture.
Garibashvili added it was “important to increasing the programmes’ availability even more” to farmers across the country.
The PM also visited the village of Dioknisi in Marneuli in southern Georgia, where he inspected a greenhouse of the local Kakhadze family. The family set up the greenhouse after receiving funding from the Produce in Georgia state project to grow different types of vegetables, the Government Administration reported.
Moreover, during his regional tour, the PM also visited a new school in the village of Kutliari in the Marneuli Municipality, built with modern classrooms, laboratories, assembly hall, combined mini-sports field, canteen and other infrastructure.
“We paid a visit to the newly constructed school of European standards in Marneuli, which was opened in the previous year and cost almost 4 million GEL ($1,302/€1.2). We have also rehabilitated and erected over 150 schools in the last few years, and this process still continues,” he told correspondents.
Garibashvili went on to say that arranging and equipping Georgian schools to meet current European standards was “very important,” with the resulting environment ensuring a “good influence” on students.
Furthermore, Garibashvili observed the building of a multipurpose rowing school and sports centre in the city of Rustavi, outside of Tbilisi, earlier on Friday, according to the Government press office.
On April 3, the Georgian Prime Minister launched a series of visits around the country to “personally assess” the status of ongoing infrastructure projects in Georgia’s southwestern Adjara area.
