Tbilisi: Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili opened the first session of the tender committee for the head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau in the Government Administration. At the session, the members of the Commission elected Revaz Javelidze, the head of the Government Tbilisi Administration as the Chairman of the Competition Commission on the basis of a vote.
By the order N289 of December 22, 2022, of Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, the tender was announced for the selection of the candidate for the head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the tender commission was established, and by the order N304 of December 30, 2022, the composition of the commission A has been defined.
They are part of the competition committee:
• Head of Government Administration Revaz Javelidze;
• Chairman of the Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration Committee Mikheil Sarjveladze;
• Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee of Parliament Anri Okhanashvili;
• Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court Giorgi Mikautadze;
• First Deputy Prosecutor General Bakur Abuladze;
• Tamar Gvaramadze, a public defender;
• Representative of “International Transparency – Georgia” Alexander Kevkhishvili.
Based on the changes made in Georgian legislation, a legal entity of Public Law – Anti-Corruption Bureau was created, which will carry out its activities independently and will be accountable to the Parliament and Agencies of Georgia in front of central anti-corruption council.
Anti-corruption bureau will be headed by an anti-corruption office chief, which will be selected on a tender basis by a tender committee consisting of state agencies and civil society representatives.
As a result of the competition, at least 2 and at least 5 candidates will be selected. The Prime Minister of Georgia will appoint the head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau for 6 years.
