Tbilisi: The office of Georgia’s Prosecutor have launched investigation in cases of election-related incident of violence .The official of prosecutor office now summed that President Salome Zurabishvili for questioning to reveal the truth.
The announcement from office of Prosecutor office came today. As per the statement issued by office they have opened investigation to know the truth of incident of violence. The official made this clear that purpose to call President is to recorded her statement in this regard as she announced that she would not recognise the election results.
At the same time opposition parties as well NGO’s and CSO also raised the similar demand for investigation in this regard as well. The investigation will be conducted under article 164. The article 164 cover the offence of rigging in election matters.
As per official President need to appear before office to answer the question so the further legal action can be initiated. The decision to summon President was taken after President claimed that she have evidence related to the fraud in elections.
After President the representative of the political parties and observer missions will also be summoned in this regard as well. Moreover if need arises all other person who have any information in this regard will also be questioned by office of prosecutor as well.
Notably after allegation of opposition parties the Central Election Commission asked the Prosecutor office to start investigation. CEC underlined that the accusation by opposition cannot be ignored so they decided to order the in-depth investigation in this regard.
An American auditing company who was observing the whole election process said, there is no violation of the any rule of code of conduct. However office is forced to begin investigation as many organisations, political parties and even President herself complained that there was large scale violence.
However, some countries have supported the outcome of results. The Prime Minister of Hungary who is currently on the official visit to Georgia extended support to Georgian Dream. He congratulates Georgia’s Prime Minister for another victory as well.
