Georgia’s prosecutor’s office has arrested two people. They are accused of using their official positions for illegal activities, including forgery of official documents.
As per the initial information they misused of a large amount of money belonging and used a forged official document for illegal activities.
It should be specifically mentioned that the Criminal Prosecution Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office started an investigation after the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia requested for it.
After the preliminary investigation it was proved that the director of “Abkhazia Public School No. 15” and the accountant of the same school deposited large amounts of money in their bank accounts, They collected this money in 2015-2023, ostensibly with the purpose of travel, economic, as well as official allowances without legal basis. They deposited 533 576 GEL illegally. In this way the defendants caused a large amount of material damage to the educational institution.
The investigation also established that the director and accountant of “Public School No. 15 of Abkhazia” entered false data in the bank statements during 2022- 2023 when preparing the school’s annual reports to cover up their own crimes.
Now, the prosecutor’s office has charged the accused with the criminal law of Georgia under Article 182 part 2 parts “a” and “d” and part 3 part “b”.This article provides for unlawful appropriation of a large amount of another’s money or property by a group using their official position and is also charged under subsection “b” of part 2 of Article 362 of the Civil Code of Georgia which stands for the production of a fake official document for causing significant damage which is punishable by imprisonment from 7 to 11 years takes into account.
Meanwhile based on the prosecutor’s office’s petition, the Tbilisi City Court sent both defendants to prison as a preventive measure. The further investigation are going on to extract the truth.
