Georgia: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged 5 individuals, including a foreign citizen, with the facts of illegal acquisition, storage, and promotion of large quantities of narcotic drugs.
The Georgia Prosecution Service shared the details of this heinous crime through its official Facebook Page on March 24, 2026. It is worth noting that the police department of the Ministry of Finance’s Investigation Service of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case.
An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the defendants illegally acquired and stored large quantities of narcotic drugs – “methadone”, “heroin”, “dried marijuana”, “tetrahydrocannabinol”, “herbal hemp”, and “raw marijuana”. As a result of the measures taken, officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seized the aforementioned narcotic drugs. Items necessary for packaging narcotic drugs were also seized.
The detainees were charged under Article 260, Part 1, Subparagraphs “a” of Part 2, Subparagraph “a” of Part 3 (illegal purchase and storage of large and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs), Article 265, Part 2, Subparagraph “a” (illegal planting and cultivation of plants containing narcotic drugs in large quantities), Article 260, Part 1, Subparagraph “a”, of Part 2, Subparagraph “a”, of Part 5, Subparagraph “a”, of Part 6 (facilitation of illegal sale of large and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for a sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
Based on the prosecutor’s motion, the court sentenced the defendants to imprisonment as a preventive measure.
