Tbilisi, Georgia: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has raised the charges against the detainee, who was earlier arrested for intentional serious injury to health. However, after the victim’s death the charges on Tbilisi’s man.
The Georgian Prosecution Service shared the details of this crime through its official Facebook Page on May 14, 2025. The Service also shared the glimpses of the arrest made by them.
The police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case. The investigation revealed that the Prosecutor’s Office has charged the person who was arrested for serious injury to health, after the victim’s death.
As a result of the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was established that on May 3 of this year, at night, during a physical confrontation in Tbilisi, which began based on a mutual dispute, the victim fell and hit his head on the curb as a result of the blow inflicted by the defendant. The victim died in the hospital on May 10 as a result of the injuries he sustained.
However, the Law enforcement officers arrested the defendant on May 7. Initially, the detainee was charged under Part 1 of Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (intentional grave injury to health).
It should also be noted that the Prosecutor’s Office also applied to the Tbilisi District Court within the time limit established by law with a motion. It will be done to impose imprisonment on the defendant as a preventive measure.Â
After the victim’s death, the charges brought against the detainee were aggravated under Article 117, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (intentional grave harm to health, resulting in death). Notably, it provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment as the form and measure of punishment.
