Georgia: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has indicted one person on Friday, September 5, 2025. He was arrested for the illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of drugs.
The Georgian Prosecution Service shared the details of this heinous crime through its official Facebook Page. The police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case.
Cause of charges
As a result of the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was revealed that an unidentified person at this stage of the investigation purchased 619 pills of the narcotic drug “Subotex” abroad in a particularly large amount and sent them to Georgia by means of transport.
Law enforcement officers detained one person while attempting to obtain the said narcotics. As a result of the measures taken, 619 pills of “Subotex” were seized.
Criminal charges were laid against the suspect
The detainee was charged under Article 19-260, Part 3, Subparagraph “a” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (attempted illegal acquisition or storage of narcotic drugs in a particularly large amount), which provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment.
Based on the prosecutor’s office’s motion, the defendant has already been sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure. The investigation into the criminal case is ongoing at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Notably, there is huge public support for the law enforcement agency for these drives to make the country drug-free, and it should also be noted that the Prosecutor’s Office will also apply to the Court within the time limit established by law with a motion to impose imprisonment on the defendant as a preventive measure.
The Georgian prosecutor’s office is pursuing a strict criminal policy against drug dealers, which it will continue to do in the future.
