Georgia: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged a foreign citizen with the illegal purchase, storage, and sale of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs.
The Georgian Prosecution Service shared the details of this heinous crime through its official Facebook Page on April 14, 2026, Tuesday. The Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case.
Cause of charges
An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed that the defendant had illegally purchased and stored a particularly large amount of the narcotic drug “Methadone”. As a result of the measures taken, officers of the Guria Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seized the aforementioned narcotic drugs.
Criminal charges were laid against the suspect
The detainee was charged under Article 260, Part Three, Subparagraph “a” (illegal purchase and storage of large quantities of narcotic drugs) and Article 260, Part Four, Subparagraph “a” (facilitation of the illegal sale of a particularly large quantity of narcotic drugs) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for a sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
Based on the prosecutor’s motion, one defendant has already been sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure, while the court will consider the issue of imposing imprisonment on the other within the time limit established by law.
Notably, there is huge public support for the law enforcement agency for these drives to make the country drug-free. The Georgian prosecutor’s office is pursuing a strict criminal policy against drug dealers, which it will continue to do in the future.
