Batumi, Georgia: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has indicted two persons on Sunday, July 27, 2025. They were arrested for the illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs in a particularly large amount, as well as unlawful purchase, storage, and sale of narcotic drugs.
The Georgian Prosecution Service shared the details of this heinous crime through its official Facebook Page. The police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case.
As a result of the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was established that one of the defendants illegally purchased and stored, in a particularly large amount, 3.839 g. of the narcotic drug “Methadone” (base) and 0.048 g. of “Buprenorphine”.
Law enforcement officers seized narcotic substances as a result of a search conducted in the defendant’s apartment. The investigation also established that the second defendant illegally purchased and stored the narcotic drug “Buprenorphine”, which he sold in Batumi.
Law enforcement officers detained the defendants in Batumi. They were charged under Article 260, Part 3, Subparagraph “a” (illegal purchase and possession of narcotic drugs in an especially large amount), Article 260, Part 1 (illegal purchase and possession of narcotic drugs) and Article 260, Part 4 (illegal sale of narcotic drugs) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for a sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
Based on the prosecutor’s motion, the defendants were sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure.
Notably, there is huge public support for the law enforcement agency for these drives to make the country drug-free, and it should also be noted that the Prosecutor’s Office will also apply to the Court within the time limit established by law with a motion to impose imprisonment on the defendant as a preventive measure.
The Georgian prosecutor’s office is pursuing a strict criminal policy against drug dealers, which it will continue to do in the future.
